learn to take criticism

May 13th, 2008 by sweet-hersheys17

There are two kinds >>>>>>>>>>>>
Constructive criticism. The kind meant to fuel a person’s progress. Often used in the Sandwhich Technique: one good thing-the thing you need to improve on-another good thing.
Ex: “Stephanie I thought you did fantastic on the creative voice in you paper, however I believe you could develop your points in paragragh three more otherwise I enjoyed the way you brought the reader into your experience” However sometimes I have to fill in the good things I did right myself.

And

Criticism dripping with contempt whether passively in condescending undertones or in overt negativity. It is occastionally difficult to tell the difference between the two espeically if some of the constructive criticism isn’t positive. Which IS possible. However it’s entirely in the environment you’re in and the person’s emotion behind it.

I do not let people who feel inferior with themselves pass on the sickness. As a kid I saw how my reactions often fueled them. Later on I learned by showing them that I was reacting it was fueling their own torment, because to hurt someone else is to hurt yourself.
That person learned somewhere along the way that to communicate with people is to continually remind themself how awful they feel about themselves+this acts as a projection=”My god, are you really going to wear that today?!”

I found myself having compassion for the way they feel. I found that the very act of doing so is gradually eliminating the need to remind myself that I am just fine the way I am. If I’m supposed to be something then I would be. Simple as that. If I really am to come into something then in due time by my own motivation I will be.

Why i want to express myself through writing?

May 13th, 2008 by sweet-hersheys17

Communication through writing is a very important aspect in my life. It
is a tool to express one’s thought , idea , impression or abstraction.
One cannot fully comprehend the other without a medium of communication
and it is significant that writng is one of them aside the verbal way
of communication.
I am now wondering if i am doing the right thing
in my expression of ideas. Whether i am right or wrong i have to do it
simply because i love to write . It is my dream to fully write exactly
the ideas i have in my mind and express it the way i like it to be . I
remember the first time that my teacher taught me how to write and
essay in my writing composition class. It was about what i did during
my summer vacation. It was very hard for me to write basically because
i was just at home during my summer vacation at that time with nothing
more exciting to write . Consequently, i did not submit to my teacher
during my class the composition which she assigned to us. That was the
first challege i met after my long vacation at home and i was
disappointed that i was not able to write it . I asked help from my
friend and he write down for me . I was making foul of myself
submitting such compostition to my teacher. But my teacher noticed the
way i write it and she decline to accept the composition i made. Then
on I tried very hard to accomplish something through writing my ideas .
It was so fulfilling that little by little i learn to write and express
what i have in mind whether i am right or wrong.

Why I Hate My Mom (A Mother’s Day Special)

May 10th, 2008 by sweet-hersheys17

I hate my mom.

Maybe
some of you hate yours, too, while others don’t.  Some of you may hate
your dad, or your brother, or your sister.  Maybe you hate your pakialamera tita or your braggart of a tito.
But not me.  Because for me, the object of my wrath is my mom.  Yep,
you heard that right: my mom.  Wanna know why?  I’ll come to that in a
few minutes but first, let me tell you something about her.

My
mom is a working mother.  I never got to see her that much when I was
younger.  She helped (and is still helping) my father put food on our
table.  Being both public servants, she would work long hours to
augment the income of my father.  The money they earned was used to
send me and my siblings into good schools because they believed that
what we lack in material things, they could make up in giving us
quality educations.  She taught me how to fend for myself.  She taught
me how to study and to rely on my own.  She has always been around to
support my every decision and to gently correct me in my mistakes.  She
watched me grow from afar but was always around when I needed someone
to comfort me.  Words need not be said when I am with my mom.  She
smiles in my joy, cries in my pain and soothes my fear.  Most of all,
my mom is one of my four pillars of strength.

"But why do you hate her?",
you might ask.  I hate her because of all the things I learned from
her, there was one thing she forgot to teach me: she never taught me
how NOT to miss her while I am here.

maybe you should  thought  that i reay hate my mom. I  don’t .  I actualy love her so much .

This one’s for you mom .  I love you.  Happy Mother’s Day.

Do you believe in karma?

May 10th, 2008 by sweet-hersheys17

karma
- it is usually understood as a sum of all that an individual has done,
is currently doing and will do. It is not about retribution, vengeance,
punishment or reward; karma simply deals with what is. The effects of
all deeds actively create past, present and future experiences, thus
making one responsible for one’s own life, and the pain and joy it
brings to them and others.

do i
believe in karma?  yes i do.  my boyfriend does, too.  that’s why we
know that we are getting what we deserve: good friends, loving family,
healthy relationships, blooming careers.  and you?  you are finally
getting the fruits of your, should i say, lechery:  no real friends,
pseudo-relationships, career going nowhere.  ahhh… the taste of sweet
revenge.  and i haven’t even lifted a finger to make your life
miserable.

does it
get to you, seeing that we are happy despite everything?  is it too
much for your over-inflated ego that nobody important misses you?
ohhh, your eyes are so green with envy seeing what i have achieved.
tsk, tsk, tsk.  pity, pity.  no matter what you do, no matter how much
your nosetrils flare up, you can’t do anything to ruin us.

you lose.

Me, Learning Hangul

April 21st, 2008 by sweet-hersheys17

I am proud of myself for I can now pretty recall some Korean words and sentences other than saying Annyong haseyo.

I can now understand their sentence construction, which differs from the English language.

If we say ‘I am going home’
in English, it is like ‘home I am going’ in Korean, or like ‘Bahay ako
punta’ in Filipino, not to mention those formal, polite, and informal
endings.
If you are watching Korean dramas in DVD’s I am sure
you already noticed that Korean actors often say heyo or imnida at the
end of their sentences. Well, that’s being polite or being formal
depending on the person they are talking to: their friend, their boss,
or their parents.

Last night, I learned, however, that
siblings no matter what order it is, talk to each other using informal
endings. I really admired how they were able to switch perfectly those
endings. Just imagine if you are talking to your boss, your friend, and
your brother at the same time. Anyway, a Korean has mastered it being a
native speaker. So, for foreigners like us, it is safe to use the
polite endings heyo or hayo.
I wonder when I am going to watch Korean dramas or movies without subtitles. I could recall my first impression of the Korean language years back. I think it was the time I watched My Sassy Girl (I wasn’t able to finish it), and ‘Full House’
in Korean. Whew! The actors seemed to be angry all the time and they
spoke too fast. I said that it is a difficult language to learn.
(Actually, I thought I would not be able to learn a language by
myself). But it changed when I decided to research on Korean’s writing
system, the Hangul; the writing system is being admired by many
language scholars. Then, I found myself engaged in studying the Korean alphabet.

It was hard at first since I am used to reading roman
letters. In fact, I surrendered and resorted to the Romanization. But
when I tried to memorize songs in Korean, I discovered that Romanized
lyrics weren’t good to follow especially when I compared these to what
I was hearing.

I often revised Romanized lyrics
just to sing the Korean songs correctly. I learned later that Hangul
have some irregularities unlike Filipino, which is described as ‘kung
ano ang sulat, siyang basa’. It takes patience to master these
irregularities, but once mastered the rest will be easy.

If you are planning to learn a language like me, you better start
now since it takes time before you become fluent. (But according to a
trivia I read, no one is ever fluent of the language he speaks, even
those native speakers. Interesting.) ^ _ ^

Besides, imagine the benefits you will reap once you learn a new
language. Research those benefits in the net. And pick the language of
your interest.

My Top 10 Most Attractive Korean Actors

April 21st, 2008 by sweet-hersheys17

It should be clear though that the word I used was MY….
Each of us has a set of standards of the guy we like. If I miss out in
the list I made some Korean Actors you like, it doesn’t mean that I
don’t like them… Maybe they are in MY TOP 20 rather than in TOP 10. I
say, I like them, too… so please don’t hate me if Lee Dong Wok is not
on my list or other Korean stars mentioned below. I love My Girl.

_______________________

10: Oh Man Seok

As I said in my previous post, I didn’t like him at
first because he is not that good looking. But as episodes of
the Vineyard Man progresses, I want to marry him, too. LOL. It is impossible however I ask for it. He’s already married.

I like him because he seemed to be that one-woman man and will treat you a princess once he loves you. ;)

I learned recently that he is a thespian and do some musical plays. I saw him in Youtube with thick make-up and a wig. He really is a singer. He always sing in Vineyard Man.

Oh, another, he won the KBS Best Couple Award with Yoon Eun Hye for VM. :)

___________________________

9: Kang Dong Won

Star of Something About 1%, but I don’t like him here. He was adorable in romantic comedies like in Too Beautiful Too Lie and Temptation of Wolves. I cried when he died in Temptation. Dong Won got so many close ups in this movie showing how cute he is, Oh…. especially that umbrella scene.

_______________________

8: Lee Dong Gun

I can’t still figure out how to explain why he’s on my list because it was already two years ago when I watched Sweet 18 in Phil. channel. All I can remember is during that time, I love the series, and love him, too.

______________________________

7: Song Seung Heon

I watched Autumn in My Heart, but it was Wo Bin, his rival, whom I was more interested in that time.

photo1164.jpg

After watching Seung Heon’s movie He was Cool, however, I said “Truly COOL”. I didn’t know he can kick asses. He’s totally my type of guy. Seemingly bad, seemingly good.

6: Kwon Sang Woo

photo22238.jpg

He’s more known as Cholo here in the Philippines and I am one of those he had charmed in Stairway to Heaven.

____________________________

5: Joo Ji Hoon

Prince Gian is what we call him; his subbed name in Phil. I am looking forward to his new drama The Devil. I heard he played a different role here compared to his role as a Prince in Goong.

4. Lee Min Ki

I first watched him in Dalja’s Spring
and seen him after that in Love Truly which is currently shown in our
local channel. All I can say is he is hot and still young!!! We are in
the same age, :green:. Tsk..Tsk.. Tsk… we can’t meet though.

From the very first scene he appeared in Dalja, I
said that he is a discovery and look, he’s on my 4th spot ahead of Joo
Ji Hoon.

To weeks ago, I went to a seminar and was stunned to
met there a guy who looks like Lee Min Ki. But Min Ki is taller, and
way more cute. But still they have resemblance so this guy was
wondering. I explained nothing. LOL

I don’t know if you agree with me, but I noticed that
Lee Min Ki is accepting roles on not typical korean stories. Dalja and
Love Truly, have distinct stories.

3: Eric Mun

Oh, Eric! Dance for me!!

I had no any idea of him until I watched Super Rookie
two months ago. It wasn’t really a love at first sight. It was his
character that I got more interested rather than his looks. But as
hours went by (watching the DVD in marathon) I realized how charming this guy was.
Especially when he blew his bangs when he’s bragging something. :o And
most of all, when he showed his dance moves in one of the episodes,
doing that Michael Jackson steps. Oh, and his fighting scenes. How
manly he is.

I found out few days later after finishing the series that Eric is a member of Shinwa,
a famous male group in South Korea. That explains how good he was
dancing and also singing that Superman Superman. Kidding aside,
he was the lead rapper of the group and I read from dramawiki that he
is the leader of Shinwa. :P

Oh, I watched his movie Diary of June last month. He was totally different on this movie. He was intelligent and more manly.

I am planning to watch Korean Secret Agency a.k.a. Invicible Parachute Agent one of these days. Its kind of sequel of Super Rookie but it seemed not.

2: Rain / Bi

photo6942.jpg

Do I have to explain why he is on my list? /heh

Anyway, it was hard for me whether I’ll put him on
number one or will it be Rae Won. In the end, Rain ended in the second
spot. Yes…unluckily. It’s just because just looking Rae Won makes me
giggle for a long time unlike Rain that I have to watch his series A Love to Kill and Full House
to have that feeling of giggling once again. I think I am more in love
with his characters he portrayed rather than Rain himself.

Hmmm… But then I also love his singing and his dancing… I really can’t tell. Yet, he is still on the second spot.

_______________________________________________

Kim Rae Won: My ultimate crush

photo9633.jpg

Ya!!! You married the wrong bride!!! 8-O

I already knew he is cute and funny and charming but it was only in My Little Bride my
emotions for him deepened. I love to watch this movie over
and over again because of him. Especially the scene when her bride
admitted that she loved Rae Won. A confession made in front of her High
School Schoolmates; It was a forced marriage at first, btw. Then, Rae
Won showed how that confession of her wife excited him because he loved
her for years already. Then the ost My Love was being played.

My Sassy Girl Remake!!

April 14th, 2008 by sweet-hersheys17

Watch it: http://youtube.com/watch?v=_-P0kJsyCOg

Credit: popseoul.

I never really understood what was so amazing about My Sassy Girl, but seeing the trailer for the remake made me appreciate the Korean version a lot more. I’m going to have to agree with PopSeoul on this one. Jesse Bradford’s character does not have the hilarious, goofy charm that Cha Tae Hyun’s had, and Elisha Cuthbert’s character isn’t sassy - instead, mentally ill. Wouldn’t they have been better off calling it a remake of The Two Faces of My Girlfriend? Other than the characters, they seem to have remained pretty faithful to the original.

I’ll probably watch it anyway, just to groan and sigh at the remade scenes and nitpick about how the movie fails in comparison. (I think, btw, they’re going to make a complete joke out of my favorite scene - the "red-line" game on the metro.) What do you guys think?

my sassy girl REMAKE!

This is not the poster ofcourse hahaha! But here’s what it says in Wikipedia:

My Sassy Girl is a remake of the highly successful 2001 Korean film of the same name. This is an American remake for an English-speaking audience starring Jesse Bradford and Elisha Cuthbert, and directed by Yann Samuell (Love Me If You Dare). It is scheduled to be released in 2007.

Elisha Cuthbert, who rose to fame on the U.S. TV series "24," is said to be prepared to assume the title role in the upcoming Hollywood film, "My Sassy Girl."

hmmm…i hope it’s as funny and as sweet. This is what got me hooked with Hallyu.
